In early November 2013, typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines as one of the most devastating storms ever recorded. Four Filipinos within the Yale-NUS community–Jocelyn Lim (Elm ’17), Joan Danielle Ongchoco (Cendana ’17), Carmen Denia (Saga ’17), and Christian Go (Saga ’17)–came together with their other friends in the college to organize Hawak Kamay (or Hold Fast), a fundraising project that included performances from the acapella groups of the school as well as the Society of Yale-NUS College Dancers.
